Other services/Questions: FAQ

What will my first session be like?

On your first session before we get started with the treatment we will go through a brief consultation procedure. This gives us time to talk about what you want to achieve, any issues you may have, do a quick postural assessment and/or soft tissue assessment (palpitation) and fill in the necessary forms i need you to do for insurance purposes. This on average takes around 15-20 mins. Therefore the first session on average features around 40-45 mins of treatment time. This however is a one off and all subsequent sessions will feature a brief meet and greet discussion and the full timing of treatment time paid for.

What other services do you provide and do you travel?

All the massage and mobility services i provide have been listed. However i also provide personal training services which you can check out at www.karmahealthandfitness.co.uk
In regards to travelling to clients homes or other venues, generally i prefer not to as i rarely have the time between massage clients and personal training clients to travel to and from another venue. However this does vary depending on my weekly schedule and some weeks i may have the opportunity to be able to travel. Its worth asking if this is something that interests you.
However just to note i have a home based massage studio located in Widmer End just outside of High Wycombe and only travel within a 5 mile radius of my studio.
(The Missenden's and Prestwood, Loosely Row/Naphill area, The Kingshill's and Bryants bottom, Micklefield and Totteridge areas, Penn/Tylers Green/Hazlemere, Holmer Green and Hughenden Valley)

Do you treat over 5's and under 18's?

I do indeed. However due to safeguarding and child protection concerns, as well as my own personal and professional reputation and integrity, i uphold a strict policy of parent/guardian consent and i also require them or a trusted third party to be present during treatment.

Who do you treat? Do you treat patients with severe health problems?

I can massage almost anybody, however due to insurance restraints I am not able to massage anyone whose sole income is obtained through sports or performing arts (e.g. elite athletes and professional dancers).  Also If you have any of the below (in list), for insurance purposes and general safety of the practitioner and client i will need informed consent and potentially a note from your doctor before proceeding treatment.

I do not treat body parts or areas with fresh injuries (e.g. torn hamstring) and require the person to have left at least 4 weeks to 4+ months (depending on severity of injury and stage of healing) before i treat the injured body part/area. In the mean time i would recommend resting, putting ice/cold on or around the injured area and if possible some light movement and stretching.

I do not treat people who have recently suffered a stroke or heart attack as massage can further complicate and put strain on such issues.

I do not treat people with colds or fevers. Having a massage with such only complicates symptoms, spreads infection and puts the therapist at risk. Please be patient and wait until any cold or fever has subsided before you seek treatment.

Cancellation policy

In the event of a cancellation of a booked appointment, 24 hours must be given prior to cancellation otherwise there will be a surcharge of the full session price on next arrival.

However depending on the circumstances leeway may be given.

Prepaid sessions may however be moved to a different date if reasonable notice is given, but it has to be within a 2 week period and may be done no more than one time. Failure to provide reasonable notice will result in a full charge of the session price on next arrival.

I hope you can appreciate that as a professional service any cancellation without reasonable notice can affect the availability of the therapist and takes up their valuable time.
